Ofsted

‘Requires Improvement'

I hope you will take the time to read the whole report as it gives a view of what is special about our school as well as a reflection of what now needs to happen.

We recognise the areas we need to improve and, indeed, had already started taking steps to address these long before the Ofsted visit. We have a robust system in place to address the concerns raised by Ofsted and, as the report suggests, we are already starting to see results. One area of concern raised by Ofsted, and also by Kent, is our level of attendance as a school and the impact this has on the progress and attainment of pupils. With this in mind, we hope that we can continue to rely on your support by ensuring that pupils attend as regularly as possible and absence is limited to occasions of illness.

We are particularly pleased that the Inspector highlighted the good behaviour, personal development and welfare of our students and recognised the friendly and familial feel of our school.

While celebrating the many positives we are keen to maintain the momentum and welcome all suggestions for where we can be even better. We are already discussing and planning initiatives to ensure Platts Heath School remains a flagship for the area, developing all our pupils with the key foundation skills to go on to become wholesome, well-rounded and respected members of the community with fond and happy memories of their time here.

Intrinsically, this is still the same school as it was the day before Ofsted visited. We are now armed with the necessary requirements to move onwards and upwards and have a strategy in place to do this successfully with your child’s best interests at the heart of everything we do.

A special ‘thank you’ to those of you who took the time to contribute to the Inspection, through completing the Parent View feedback or speaking with the Inspector. On behalf of the school and staff can I thank you for your support - please continue to support us by spreading the word – as we work towards being ‘Good’ again before then becoming Outstanding.
