Admissions

Admission to the school's Reception class is made by the Headteacher on behalf of the Local Education Authority, in accordance with the agreed policy.

The published admission number (PAN) for each year group is 13.

For the year 2017/2018 the Governors have stipulated:

• All children whose fifth birthday falls between 1st September 2017 and 31st August 2018 will be admitted to the Reception Class in the Autumn Term 2017.

• The statutory age for starting school is the term following the child’s fifth birthday.

• Parents wishing to register their child at Platts Heath Primary should be aware of the county’s admission policy, which states the following criteria for the allocation of spaces;

o Children in Local Authority Care;
o Parental wishes;
o Current family association, i.e. an older sibling in the school at the time of entry
o Health reasons (for which a medical certificate may be needed);
o Location of the child’s home

Parents are advised that only the published criteria determine a place.
